We are seeking a strategic and technically adept Senior Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, cloud networking, and enterprise transformation and modernization. This role will be instrumental in architecting and evolving cloud infrastructure for a major reinsurance client to support scalable, secure, and future-ready platforms. You will be part of a team leading modernization efforts, driving cloud-native adoption, and ensuring robust networking foundations are applied across hybrid and cloud environments. The role is fully remote, anywhere in Romania.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient Azure cloud solutionsLead modernization of legacy systems into cloud-native architecturesDevelop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or ARM templatesArchitect and manage complex Azure networking setups including Virtual Networks, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, Private Link, Network Security GroupsEnsure high availability, performance, and security of cloud network infrastructureCollaborate with security teams to implement best practice/principles and ensure secure connectivityDrive cloud transformation initiatives aligned with business and IT strategyMigrate and modernize workloads using solutions such as containers (e.g. Kubernetes, AKS), serverless, and PaaS offeringsMonitor and optimize cloud performance, reliability, and cost using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Cost ManagementImplement governance and compliance controls using Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, and SentinelProvide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teamsRequirements:
Extensive hands-on experience with Azure cloud services and architectureStrong expertise in Azure networking and hybrid connectivity solutionsProven track record in cloud transformation and modernization projectsProficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash)Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS) and serverless computingFamiliarity with cloud security frameworks and best practicesAzure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-700, AZ-400) are highly desirableStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsExcellent communication and documentation abilitiesAgile and DevOps mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
