IT Portfolio Analyst

The IT Portfolio Analyst serves as a supporting partner to IT Portfolio Managers and leadership, ensuring that IT initiatives align with business objectives and deliver value to the organization.
Responsibilities of an IT Portfolio Analyst include:
Project Portfolio Oversight:
Data Governance: Establish high quality oversight practices for projects and programs to ensure quality data for Project Portfolio reporting and analysis. Monitor governance processes that support project prioritization and decision-making and propose improvements. Support project and program managers to improve data quality, strengthen oversight practices, and ensure delivery. Through strong communications, alignment and collaboration with Project/Program/Portfolio Managers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, delivery leadership, and IT resource managers, ensure that projects are properly resourced and prioritized with consideration to organizational priorities. Monitor and report on resource constraints. Risk Management: Ensure high quality data for risks and issues associated with the IT portfolio, working to mitigate potential gaps.
Resource Management:
Resource Allocation: Work with other IT Portfolio Analyst/Managers and IT Resource Managers to optimize the allocation of resources across different projects within the IT portfolio.Capacity Planning: Collaborate with project managers, department heads and resource managers to ensure that the organization has the necessary capacity to execute and deliver projects on your Portfolio Roadmap successfully, using data to drive effective trade-off decisions.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Define and monitor key performance indicators to assess the health and progress of projects/work efforts within the portfolio.Reporting: Generate regular reports for senior leadership, stakeholders, and project teams, providing insights into the status, risks, and performance of the IT portfolio. Support delivery leadership with reporting to ensure effective risk and issue management, ownership, and mitigation/resolution.Performance Monitoring/Data Quality: Provide leadership with regular insights on project data quality (resources, financials, risks, issues, etc.) to support project/program/portfolio manager feedback and development.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with Project/Program/Portfolio Managers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, delivery leadership, and resource managers. Provide updates on the status of projects, resource and capacity plans, change requests, and overall portfolio performance.Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with IT resource managers, and all delivery team members, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure project portfolio performance.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The IT Portfolio Analyst is accountable for the planning, monitoring, and trend analysis of projects within the scope of assigned portfolio. This position oversees the data within the project portfolio and partners with the project professionals, including Project/Program/Portfolio Managers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, delivery leadership, and IT resource managers supporting the portfolios to ensure consistent delivery of business value. Portfolio Analyst closely align with Portfolio Managers and IT resource managers to ensure each project under the respective portfolio is planned, resourced, funded, and delivered within committed timelines.
What you will need:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience1-2 years of experience in a problem-solving function with cross-functional teamsExcellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft applications particularly in ExcelStrong research, analytical, planning, and organizational skillsCustomer-focused attitude and demonstrated success working proactively and efficiently to deliver results
Additional Preferred Skills:
1-2 years of experience in IT project, program, or portfolio managementDemonstrated experience at a financial services institutionKnowledge of existing products, services, and overall operational guidelinesStrong knowledge of business analytical practices and methodologies and process improvement methodologies, e.g., Lean or Six Sigma a plusPMP, PgMP, PfMP, and/or PMI-ACP CertificationsPPM tool experience (Planview Portfolios)
