SAP Consulting: Tech Specialist, Applications & Platforms Role
Team is using several technology solutions to manage various finance business processes in accounts payable, procurement, accounts receivable, fixed assets, books and records as well as budgeting & forecasting. One of the key applications used for the core ERP is SAP S/4 Hana on premise version 2023 hosted on AWS public cloud. Along with this, Finance also uses complementary software that includes Vertex, OpenText, Blackline, Concur, etc. This role manages all of SAP and related Infrastructure to ensure systems are running & performing well with the Infrastructure strategy aligned to Finance and business goals. In addition to routine maintenance, the position ensures operating systems, databases and applications are upgraded on an ongoing basis to be on the latest supported versions.
The SAP landscape consists of SAP S/4 Hana 2023 (Upgrade to 2025 planning in progress) Front end - Fiori, Windows GUI, Web GUI, NWBC, Mobile through OKTA Embedded GRC Embedded BPC Planning & Consolidation Embedded BW & Embedded Analytics OpenText - Document capture (BCC), Vendor Invoice Management (VIM), Document archival and, document pipeline Reporting - Analysis for Office, Business objects (webi, crystal, AO) SAP Solution Manager, SAP Process Orchestration SAP certified connector for Vertex, Concur, Blackline and cForia
Responsibilities
The various responsibilities include:
Ensuring SAP and all other related infrastructure are maintained to meet SLA’s for performance, utilization, availability, etc Monitor and manage the infrastructure and systems during critical periods like month closing, quarterly closing, annual closing, peak periods like budget season, etc to ensure no disruptions to availability of systems Managing the in-house basis support team as well as the third party managed service provider supporting the SAP infrastructure in AWS to ensure routine business as usual activities (backups, alerts management, patching, etc) are performed to keep good health of systems Coordinating and communicating with application teams and business stakeholders for scheduled maintenance downtimes Coordinate and perform annual disaster recovery test for SAP systems Manage cutover plans, resources and tasks for scheduled maintenance activities and system upgrades Developing relationships and collaborating with applications teams, and ensuring roadmaps and resources are lined up and aligned Managing the contractual arrangements with managed services partners for support of SAP systems and infrastructure Ensuring respective constraints and dependencies for systems are well understood, communicated and managed Troubleshooting and issue resolution to ensure the systems availability Ensuring appropriate ways of working (plan, meetings, comms etc) are in place to support collaboration with application teams and business stakeholders Develop and manage a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress of large initiatives like application upgrades. Provide status updates to management and stakeholders Work closely with various technology teams like cloud engineering, Information security, architects, engineering teams and devOps team members for various Infrastructure related tasks. Lead and manage annual SAP application upgrades Support team members with basis administration tasks as and when needed
Skills & Experience
Proven hands on experience of at least 7 years in SAP Basis administration, preferably in SAP S/4 Hana Experience in various tools like Process Orchestration, Solution Manager, CHARM, Cloud ALM, SAP BTP, SAC, SAP Data Sphere, Convergent Mediation, Convergent Charging, Opentext Archive server, IES etc., Experience in implementing single sign on solutions, mutual authentication for web services, secure certificate management, etc Experience in AWS Infrastructure architecture and management - compute, storage, File systems, VPC, security groups, firewalls and other networking aspects of cloud engineering 3+ years experience of project management in the infrastructure and SAP implementation projects Experience in managing teams of 3+ members Experience in managing third party managed services providers and partners Experience in managing SAP system landscape upgrades and other associated components under tight deadlines with constraints on limited windows available for go live Experience in cost optimization and management of AWS infrastructure Able to build strong personal relationships and trust. Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion Stakeholder management with drive to achieve results to their satisfaction A thorough, and timely communicator. Able to clearly communicate complex technical subjects to business and technology stakeholders. Resourceful and ability to research on any relevant topic and come up with recommendations Have an insatiable thirst to learn, develop new skills and be successful with high level of self motivation to make things happen
