Senior Kafka Engineer

Job requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience with strong Kafka expertise in production environments.
Proven experience building high performance Kafka producers/consumers in Go and/or Java.
Strong working knowledge of Kafka internals and operational concepts: partitions, replication, ISR, leader election, consumer group protocol, offsets.
Hands on experience with advanced Kafka configurations, including custom partitioners, idempotent producer settings, and consumer group tuning.
Hands on experience with librdkafka, including configuration tuning and troubleshooting for low-latency/high-throughput systems.
Strong debugging and performance analysis skills across distributed systems (networking, CPU, memory, GC, backpressure).
Experience collaborating across cross functional teams and working in Agile delivery models.
Preferred / Nice to Have Skills
Experience with Kafka ecosystem components (Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, MirrorMaker, ksqlDB) is a plus.
Experience with security and compliance in Kafka environments (TLS, SASL/SCRAM, ACLs, RBAC, secrets management).
Familiarity with containerized or cloud deployments of Kafka (Kubernetes operators, managed Kafka services).
Experience with open-source contribution workflows (PRs, reviews, issues, releases, semantic versioning).
Experience building reusable internal SDKs or developer platforms for event streaming.
